Can anyone tell me which is a better processor?

And most importantly cooler? I want the laptop to be as quiet as possible, I know T2080 probably runs faster, but is it cooler than a TK53?

good question! I think the 2080 might be a little bit cooler... they should both be very close in terms of heat.

How much are you going to pay for this machine? You might be able to get a newer machine for around the same price (Vostro 1500). Look into that.

Both of those processors are dual-core so they will both be fine . . . you won't notice a difference between the two. The Intel will probably give you better battery life.

Around 450 euro, 1500s are in the area of 650-700, so they are out of the question

    Vostro 1000 comes with a TK53
    Insrpiron 6400 with a Dual Core T2080

I'm leaning more towards the Dual core, cause.... it's a downgraded version of a Core 2 Duo, an already optimized and a fully mobile processor. I couldn't find any info on TK53, and it's an Athlon as opposed to Turion.

The T2080 is based on the Core Duo(Yonah) not the Core 2 Duo. The TK53 is just a re-branded Turion X2. So, is as mobile as the Turion X2's.

I assume other components(RAM, HDD, price) are the same/similar between the two systems. If so, the TK-53 would be the better choice since it will be paired with the ATi X1100 chipset/GPU which offer improved graphics performance compared to the i945/GMA950 with the T2080. The TK53 is also 64 bit capable if that is important to you. However, the T2080 would provide the better battery life and run a bit cooler but the difference wont be much.
