I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I am looking at Duo Core ones, because it is supposed to be able to handle two apps at once...true? So for the Duo Core owners. What is your experience? Even though I have a P-M 1.8GHz Dell 700m, I still hate to see it lag in performance sometimes...maybe its the RAM or HDD, but I still would like to get a Duo Core. And which Duo Core do you have? With how many GHz?

Its great Ive seen improvements on some of my games compared to my desktop which has a P4 3.2ghz

I find my T2500 Core Duo works just fantastic vs my old Toshiba Satellite 1955 (which I gather is now going for main board repair, took it in for repair last day of warrenty, and apparently the main board is fried and they can't even turn it on, which is wierd because when I left it with them I could but, whatever).

So if you are running, like, an Antivirus program, spyware remover, and a game or some other apps, you see a big difference in speed? Compared to single core CPUs?

I have the Acer 8204 with the T2500. It really is fast - excellent for multi-tasking.

Can we get a sticky that it's "Core Duo", not duo core? Duo Core is not dual core.

it is a dual core processor, but its name is Core Duo.
also, on my desktop i have noticed a very large bump in performance when i went with dual core..there is nothing like encoding something or virus scanning/spyware etc on one core.. while playing BF2 on the other core..simply amazing.
pb,out. -
I love mine. AGK usually takes about 2.5 hours to encode a movie, and does it in an hour and a half with a dual core/core duo/duocore/ thingie
-
Core Duel? No I'm kidding... wow. Core Duo is a definitely what I need. That slim gateway sounds cool...but it only has Duo Solo.

lol actually that was a mistake. Funny how people assume I meant something else, huh?

My quick note on the Core Duo,
I love mine, I find it really really fast and works very well.
My quick "comparison" would be that on my Acer 8204 I can quite happily be playing EQ2 on full specs (which is quite a resource hungry game in and of itself) and I only know that my virus scanner ran (not is running, but ran) because it throws a message to my screen when it's done.
Compare that to my prior notebook where pretty much everything grinds to a halt when the virus scanner starts and that tells you how I like it. -
Wow. Imagine how the quad-core processors should perform next year. I'll probably be buying that in 2007.

Sounds perfect for playing Eve on 2 accounts at a time on 2 seporate clients! (Lotsa people do it)

Yeah core duos seem to be performing great, and wasn't just another marketing scheme.
Kinda wish I could just POP one into my baby.
Duo Core's app performance?
