What notebook options out there that will extend its lifetime? I'm not talking about toughbook class features, but rather mainstream/business class options. I'm trying to get a feel for what nifty gadgetry is available.
-rubber mounted hard drive
-solid state hard drive
-magnesium alloy chassis
-free fall sensor for hard drive
-mylar sealed keyboard (Dell)
Thanks guys.

I know the x200 has a keyboard that can have drinks spilled on it, I dont know what that is called.

In my experience, the feature most likely to improve long-term durability of a laptop is the word "Thinkpad" somewhere on the chassis.

Lenovo has a "Roll Cage" on many ThinkPad models to add extra rigidity and durability to the case and top cover of the notebook. They also use rubber mounts on hard drives for impact protection.
A lot of business notebooks have hard drives with "free fall" sensors to park the hard drive heads to avoid data loss/corruption in case of a hard knock or drop.
Spill-resistant keyboards are becoming a standard in most business models. Their objective is to give the user time to save any work and power down the laptop in case of a spill.
Both Dell and Lenovo use Magnesium Alloy extensively for its high-strength/low weight properties. Lenovo also uses carbon-fibre reinforced plastic in some high-end models (X200s, X301) for even lower weight.
