I currently have this problem and someone else also had this problem in 2006 but no one offered a solution and he/she never posted result.
I am wondering if anyone has some clever ideas to remove the dust stuck behind the LCD panel. Right now, there are several large specks of dust that looks like dead pixels, and a few smaller ones that appear as tiny, blurry, dots on the screen.

which is your laptop model ?. i think u will have to deassemble the screen and wipe out the dirt from between the bezel cover and actual screen. this guide may help you to remove the bezel

however no need of removing the screen . just remove the bezel cover and wipe it. -
Um, the bezel is just a bezel, there is no screen or plaster layer attached to that. You will need to disassemble the LCD panel to remove particles and dust, however I suggest having a lot of patience and a super clean environment with tons of anti static and static cleaners as it's very difficult to keep dust free! Believe me I have tried this before and it's a nightmare.

How did you do it? I was thinking of steaming up a bathroom then waiting for it to settle but my main concern was if it was possible to even remove that top layer successfully.
Edit: BTW my laptop is a sony sz340p. -
Lol. Its funny you mention that method. Many people use that to apply screen protectors and resist dust getting caught in between screen and protector. I however WOULD NOT recommend that for any electronic such as an LCD. To be honest, I wouldn't want an expensive piece of electronicsin an environment that moist. Especially something as fragile as an LCD. Just my 2 cents.

I have to agree. Moisture and electronics don't go well together.
Well for me, I just had to clean the space around the area by vacuuming, open windows and use an HEPA air filter machine prior to doing the LCD cleaning. Even still it does not create a dustless environment.
You will need ultra patience, plenty of microfiber cloths, static cling cleaners (like swiffer) and lots of time. -
Glad to see somebody agree with me on this one! Electronics and Wah Wah do not go together

I hope you know what your getting yourself into. You may just end up with more dust in there.
