    Hi,
I'm considering selling a Liteon SSW-8015S dvd burner, and the person isn't sure if it's gonna work in either a IBM Thinkpad T23 or IBM Thinkpad T42.
    Anyone knows?
    Thanks!

I've put Liteon optical drives into Fujitsu and Samsung notebooks. The 8015S is here. It looks like a standard slimline ODD.

The only possible thing that can go wrong is if the Thinkpads are set up so that the ODD shares the same IDE channel as the HDD. In this case the ODD has to be preset in the firmware to be the slave device. Most ODDs are not preset like this because they are the only device on thier IDE channel. Use Device Manager to check the IDE channels (under ATA/ATAPI devices).

One advantage of Liteon ODDs is there a free program (LiteonRPC) which provides region-free capbility.
