I am contemplating purchasing an E-MU 0404 usb 2.0 for both my headphone setup ( sager 9262 => 0404=> Little Dot MKV=> AKG K-701 ) and for recording guitar from a Digitech GNX4 Workstation. Mainly it's for bypassing the Reaktek internal card I have, that I believe has been the cause of some minor ( but rather disconcerting ) popping sounds that are only audible through my headphones and are only there every now and then. It's probably the sound of interference from other components in the laptop, but I haven't been able to stop it completely even though I've shut down a lot of background processes and totally disabled wifi. Anyway, I am curious to see if anyone here has had firsthand experience with the 0404 and can give me advice on whether or not it's worth the $200. Someone bought it from newegg and said in his review that it had problems with vista, but that was over 2 months ago and he wasn't specific about what exactly those problems were. Any input here would be welcome...

From what I hear ASIO on this card is not Vista friendly.

It's pretty unbelievable that they haven't figured out a way to fix this yet, but I'm not doubting you may be right. I'll dig on this a little more after I get home from work and my internet connection isn't firewalled to death. For some reason I can access notebookreview but not head-fi.
