Later next month, I will be ordering new parts for my laptop and was wondering if its worth the upgrade.

I mainly use the laptop for:
Dreamweaver, flash, photoshop, and other multimedia programs (video editing/conversion and music conversion)

    ...and basic computing.

    My laptop is currently:
    T7200
    *1 GB RAM
    *120 HDD 5400 RPM
    X1400
    *6 cell battery

The ones with the * are what I am considering upgrading. I am definitely upgrading my ram to 2 GB but I do not know which brand to chose. I heard there are some value ram will fail when used intensively.

I think a 100 GB 7200 RPM will boost speed time when opening and saving work. Will the HDD above benefit my need or a higher disk space is prefer due to all the media file?

6 cell battery: If vista is telling me that I have 3 hours of battery life then that would be sufficent. I also read the battery guide and will probably not get a secondary/primary 9 cell battery.

Any suggestion and help are appreciated. Thanks.

Side note - I am currently dual booting XP and Vista. I will probably get rid of my XP partition as I found myself using Vista more. I also use the laptop as a desktop tower (I have the luxury of a desktop user and the portability of a laptop all in one).

Well considering you don't have any battery issues and that it remains on a desk I wouldn't recommend the upgrade now. But in the future if you see yourself continually going places with it and having to use it unconnected then yes the upgrade is well worth it because you can bring up the brightness and still obtain more battery life. The 2GB is a necessity with the types of programs you will be using and for the hard drive I don't really see any need for the upgrade. Not only will you be spending more money for less space but the performance increase is not even worth it.
