Bought on Ebay E8335 CPU SLGEB version 2.93 GHz and tried installing it into Acer 8930G notebook.
No success - notebook switches on for 3 seconds, than goes off and again on and nothing more.
No activities on the screen are visible - can't enter BIOS setting as the screen is black.
    BIOS - 1.20
What is wrong - CPU, Bios or incompatibility issues?
If somebody had an experience of using this CPU in Acer 8930 - please share the information.

Means you got a ES-engineering sample not a processor ready made for laptop. I know I got scammed by ebay seller and ebay didn't want to hear about it. Even after I posted the information to Intel and they told me the number marking are for ES testing only and not for sale with 3rd party as that violates their agreements with Intel. But eBay will not want to hear about it even if you tell them. If the seller lets you return it do it promptly otherwise you lost whatever money you spent on it. Never by a processor that doesn't say T8XXX or similiar anything with Exxx should be a warning stay away from it.....

Here's what Intel Technology Rep told me in email:

As far as I know E8335 and E8435 CPUs aren't engineering samples. They are CPUs for iMac 20" 2008 production year. Some people here in this very forum reported successful usage of these CPUs in Acer 8930 and 6930 models. Therefore I placed this question here.

Anyway, if it is an engineering sample - how can I distinguish it from normal OEM CPU?

i thought imac models were Ball Grid Array? though he is right, people sell the ty engineering samples on ebay quite bit, the retail samples perform and overclock better.

Do as I did give the numbering on the processor to intel support and ask them to identify the processor for you and you will know if ES or not. And you said some? That isn't a big enough pool to know if the long term usage is viable. But give all the number from the top of the processor to the bottom and send that to Intel to identify it for you if your not sure.

Good to hear sometimes that is the best thing to do as that processor is and from and made by Intel. But as I advice only buy those that are made for PC with the standard markings and only those as some are ES or iMac processor and could or couldn't work and your left high and dry like I was. Twice so far on eBay I been burned but I can be sure I only didn't loose more.... if I make a purchase again I ask more detailed questions.

I believe the BIOS doesn't support it. I had the same experience trying a Core 2 Quad Q9000 in an Acer 8735G - hardware wise it should've worked, but it would power on and the screen would stay black.

These have been known to work in other systems, the 7738G is the best for taking CPUs (any quad works just fine).

Intel support said nothing useful - suggested to contact Apple as it is OEM CPU for iMac.

That doesn't sound good then....you might haveto check the acer site for bios update matching your laptop make/model. This is why I learned the hard way unless it was for PC laptop processors don't buy it and if you can return it do so and buy yourself a true PC processor and save the headache.
