I just bought a Blu-Ray optical drive for my ASUS G71G to replace my DVD Super Multi. Only to find out they have sent me an EIDE interface instead of a SATA interface. Is there anyway I can disassemble and convert this Blu-Ray using the ribbon and connector of the DVD Super Multi so that it will connect properly inside my laptop???

    Most probably not.

Why don't you just return it and get a correct one? It will be easier, cheaper and most importantly fit correctly :)

There exists converters that are used for slim desktops but they will of course not fit the slot of a laptop because it requires also a floppy power connector.
It looks like this, just for the information:

well, now I know it will not work but maybe there is a slim IDE to USB. I really dont want to return the drive due to a 15% restocking fee so if I could find a cable like this it would work out great for me...but I cant seem to find one even using Google(not sure im calling it the right thing or not).

They're going to charge you 15% for their own mistake!? I wouldn't buy from there again...

lol. yeh I dont plan on it. But its not entirely thier fault, I bought it without pulling the DVD drive on mine and checking the interface. Since the ad said it fits most 12.7mm slim drive bays, I figured there was only one interface for CD drives...my mistake!! So if anyone knows of a usb converter, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks
