Hiya, my name is Fuzzy and I worked 3 weeks straight in order for my mom to buy me a laptop. I planned on going with an alienware, but didn't want to wait, so instead I bought a Fujitsu N Series Lifebook, but unfortunately it only came with 512mbs of ram (and I believe 128 of them are "shared" with the videocard.)
So, then I had to work for my dad to convince him to buy me some ram. He finally agreed and now im scared, because I don't know what ram to get. I am comfortable with desktops, but notebooks is alot different.
I turn my notebook over and it says Model: N6220 and Reg No: N6210
so im really not sure what to go with, or what to search. I've been told that it is DIMM, and the only thing my nearest store has is SO-DIMM, and its all just a big confusing mess. I play WoW on it most of the time, and whenever I load another player I get lag. Sometimes it's helpful, say im out in the wilderness and a horde comes near, I get a spike of lag, and I know to look around and hide or whatnot, but it really is unbearable.
I do not believe the problem is my videocard considering I can run counterstrike at maximum resolution (1600x1200) and still get over 200 fps.
(on a side note, my laptop has a Fn key, and I was messing around with it, and held it down and pressed another key the same color, now whenever I run a game(fullscreen) that has equal to or less then 800x600 it is a tiny box within the screen, I have tried pressing the button again, to "de-toggle" it, but it does not revert back to the way it was. If someone can give me some advice how to disable this, that would be amazing)
Thank you for reading

to determine the proper RAM, pop out the chip you currently have in! or go to your lappies manufacturer's website. Or do a RAM diagnosis on a popular web site like Crucial.com
As for the Fn key deal- cant help you, I never mess with that key except to turn up and down the brightness -
go to crucial.com
there is a decision tree there
go thru the tree and it will tell you the specs you need
once you have those specs, you can go search for a good deal -
search google for aida32 program...it shows what you got in your computer include ram...also shows you how much ram you are currently using/free.
I think you just need more ram...you'll need so-dimm ddr2 thats for sure....
I have fujitsu n3410 and its pretty easy to install ram..so i believe yours is same...and yes you defenitely need more ram...and yes you definitely need more ram...surprise youd be playing at 300 something ram..... -
Hello, i bought the ram, and I do believe its the right kind. It is Mushkin 2gb (2x1gb) Pc4200 DDR2 533mhz 200 pin SO-DIMM
the problem is, when i put both of them in, I get a blue screen that says there is a hardware issue. Currently im running with my original 512, and one of the 1gb mushkins, but id prefer to use the second as well. is there anything i can do?
the bluescreen had a number which i thought i should right down, here it is.
STOP 0x0000000A
C0xB1559878
0X00000002
0X00000000
0X805DC10F
I tried using just a single 1gb chip at a time, with both chips to see if it was a messed up chip on either of em, but it didnt work.
could it be something with my video card using shared memory?
thanks for listening -
Download and install Everest Home http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html Then go to the pages SPD and Motherboard in the Motherboard category. Take a screenshot of each page and upload them so I can see. My guess is that your motherboard couldn't handle 2 GB of RAM. But it could also be the timings.

fujitsu website ( http://www.lifebook.com.au/Shop.aspx?pageID=Model&id=43) says that your machine can support up to a maximum of 2gb (1gb x 2) of dual channel DDRII-533 sodimms. if you are having problems with using the 2 modules at the same time but have removed the possibility that one of the modules is defective, then possible cause could be you have an old bios. look into the manufacturer's website to see if they have a new bios that solves this issue.
your machine has this graphics card: ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X600 with dedicated 128MB video memory and PCI Express® x16. so it is not a shared one.
could it be that your machine does not like your mushkin ram for one reason or another? it is known that certain branded rams seem not to be well supported by certain machines though the module fits and hte specs seem to be the correct one. it is this inconsistencies that make technology frustrating.
Ease my worries, plz
