    Hello guys,

Does anyone know what cable can connect from MSI GE75 10SF motherboard to the B173HAN05.1 LCD?

MSI have recommended a K1N-3040153-H39 or K1N-3040150-J36 but they seem to have the wrong ends. They look like the 0.5mm pin spacing connector ends whereas the B173HAN05.1 which I have already bought I believe have 0.4mm pin spacing.

    Thanks for any help.

Definitely a 0.4 / 40 which is typical of AUO.

Finding these cables is a PITA when you deviate from what's available natively. However I converted from FHD 30P / 4K 40P and went through https://kreplacement.com/ and was able to snag the panel / cable I needed in a single transaction. They're pretty helpful in matching up the part #'s if you have them and should be able to verify the correct cable. Shoot them an e-mail and give them some time to respond as they're not the fastest but, they are thorough.

Yeah the problem I'm having is verifying the pitch for the LCD end of the K1N-3040150-J36 cable. MSI told me they are interchangeable but in some pictures they look to be slightly different, the K1N-3040153-H39 being 0.5mm and the K1N-3040150-J36 possibly being 0.4mm spacing.

At any rate, the K1N-3040153-H39 which I bought does not fit into the B173HAN05.1 which I have.

If you can find a service manual for the laptop you should be able to figure it out. Another model of laptop might have the cable you're looking for listed as well.

Otherwise you could gamble a bit using quoted things like "0.4mm" "edp" "40" to see what pops that could be a match. Otherwise hit up the place I mentioned and see if they can source the proper cable.

I've sent an email to them.

I've been digging around looking for cables with the specs but the only two I can find with the right motherboard adapter are the two MSI gave me links to. The problem there is that looking at the pictures the LCD end of the K1N-3040150-J36 looks, to my eye, to be the same as the K1N-3040125-H39, which I already have and does not fit into the B173HAN05.1.

Yeah, there's tons of generic photos of these things online. It's hard to judge them based on what's posted. Verifying with someone familiar with them and selling them is the best bet. I can't even recall how many I looked at when swapping to 4K. I had the part # from the manual though that made it a bit more conclusive as to which one to get but, still had some doubts until it was all fitted together. There's so many scams with these stupid cheap parts it's amazing. Figure the cable should be somewhere in the $15-$20 range though even though it's a short cable w/ the fittings on the end. I found it listed on the sites like AE but, you never know what you'll actually get when it arrives.

KR seemed to be a good bet after talking to them over e-mail for a few days RE the panel / cable. I had already attempted to order a panel a couple of times and got "compatible" lesser spec'd panels in return. Sourcing is 1/2 the battle with these. Once you find a good supplier it's cake though.
