I'm curious if adding an additional 2GB RAM to a Mini laptop like Asus 1005A will affect the battery life or this effect is negligible ?

The effect is negligible if at all.

no.. all the same type of RAM will draw the same amount of power even if the size is different..

It may even improve your battery life as it'll let the hard drive sleep more instead of hitting swap and caching files in RAM instead of having to read them from the hard drive all the time.

As another data point, when I upgraded my VAIO 4GB DDR2 to 8GB total, I lost at most about 10 minutes of run time. The HD is the Scorpio Blue 500GB.

    Very fair tradeoff, I'd say.
