Okay there have been a high pitched noise coming from my laptop for some time now. Although my laptop is running just fine with no problems, i am wondering what this could be. When i have my laptop in sleep mode, i can hear a high pitched sound coming from near the base, its kind of hard to hear but if i put my ear close to my laptop i can hear it. This is even when the ac adapter is unplugged. I'm assuming the sound stays when the laptop is on also. It goes away when the laptop is shut down, so im guessing since it happens in sleep mode, it has something to do with power as there is still some electricity circulation going on?

    Help me out please :p

It may just be static electricity buildup, and it couldn't hurt to try the solution for that. That solution is to unplug the laptop, take out the battery, and to push the power button for about 20 seconds, two times. That should discharge static electricity buildup, if that's the cause, and return your system to a quieter state. I've done this myself to solve such a noise after I accidently caused a short-lived short that left a static electricity buildup.

That'll solve it if you're lucky. If you're not lucky... it may or may not be resolvable. And there won't be a one-fix-cures-all solution. But if you aren't noticing it when the laptop is on, it can't be too bad. Back in the days when I had Vista, I had a really high pitched noise that was none too subtle when the laptop was on, especially on battery. That was no fun. Couldn't use the laptop in a library.

Also note that a little bit of noise is normal in electronics, and high pitched noises are common in such things as power strips and surge protectors. Whether it's a problem depends on how loud it is.
