I have an HP 8510p. I've heard that Toshiba's have a BIOS setting to enable use of <left ctrl>+<left alt> as an external alternative to the notebook's Fn key. Also that some Dells let you use Scroll Lock for this purpose.

Is there something similar for HP notebooks?

Failing that, is there way to use something like AutoHotKey to map a key as the notebook's Fn key?

Failing that, is there some HP software which lets you on-screen controls for the various Fn functions?

Thanks, I checked it out, but Randy says: "Nope. At least not in most cases: the Fn key is different keyboard to keyboard, OEM to OEM - it's a complete crap shoot. If it's working, it's good - if it's not, it's not going to..."

Sharpkeys looks at scan codes, which the Fn key doesn't send (at least not on this machine).. bummer!
