    Enable S.M.A.R.T. on externals?

    I recently bought a 500 gb western digital external harddrive by my Disk Utility (mac) says that SMART isn't enabled. Is there a way to do this and also is there a way to enable it for 2.5in external harddrives?

    Hi.

    I have an 500GB WD External as well, A lot of programs cannot read the smart from this drive.
