Line 6 gearbox which is the software for a guitar input device guitar port ux1 is stating that my hard drive is in pio mode. How do I check out if this is correct. I do have reason to believe that it's possible that the software is inaccurate because of other issues I have had with their software a drivers. If it is indeed in pio mode how do I enable DMA mode. I've tried all the tricks i've read on the web in the device manager i don't know what else to do. The only other strange thing i found was in the device manager under system devices direct access memory controller says there is no driver installed under device status. when I try do update the driver it says that the best driver is allready installed windows has deterimened the driver software is up to date.

Look under your IDE controllers (ATA Channels) -> Advanced. There is a checkbox for Enable DMA, as well as the mode it is currently running in.
For your DMA controller,do you have a yellow exclamation mark? If not, then no need to worry.

You would know if you are in PIO mode. Your system would be horribly slow and take forever to do anything, and the HDD access would be maxed out all the time.

True, the system does run fine. I bet it's just the line 6 software...Several versions and drivers were crashing my system so they obviously have some programming problems the only other software i've ever had problems with in Vista is DVD Copy 5 (which I just got a refund for a couple days ago even after several months, they didn't even put up any resistance which leads me to believe I wasn't the only one). HP support was no help in the whole DMA matter and in my inquery I noticed that The pavilion 9500t's BIOS options are rather limited.
