I'm not 100% sure if anyone posted this before, but I didn't find it through search.

Wow that is crazy, but I prefer RHKiller :D
I dont understand how it can destruct itself off its on power. The harddrive doesnt have capacitors, so how can it have power to discharge itself?

I will have to email them to find out, it seems pretty interesting.

This might be good for Banks, Insurance and Trust companies etc. that require top-notch security. I don't know anything about how the technology works but what if it is triggered off by mistake? All that data loss wouldn't be good..that's why u should always have backups anyway I guess.

What's the RHKiller? I can't find anything about it.

I believe they modded the casing of the HDD to include some kind of power source. It doesn't require a lot of power, cause it will only need it once. :D

I'm pretty sure you have to go through at least 2 confirmations before it pulls the trigger. :D

RHKiller is some software a few of my friends developed. It basically tricks the voltage controller chip for the transformer in the power supply, to run full 115/230v AC through your system, and everything gets destroyed, as long as its plugged in via molex :D
We have only ran a test on an old AT based psu, so I am not sure if it works through ATX, and if the new power supplies use the same controller chips.

    LMAO nice! :D

I'm not sure if that will work with the newer boards though, cause that's kinda of a security risk, someone can write a virus and just fry a system.

You know, brute force can solve a lot of problems too. :twitcy:

For the record, to destroy CDs and DVDs, microwave is the best method, all it needs is 5 seconds, no more. There are articles that talk about this, and videos on youtube also.

*Disclaimer* Do not try this at home without a trained professional. :D

I wonder what triggers the destruction effect.

It would suck if your downloading Firefox 3 for example, but accidentally click something that causes your drive to explode. :/
