Hello!
I am somewhat of a rookie in the laptop upgrade business! But I seem to a have messed up the HDD in my asus laptop and now I'm looking to switch. Coming from the desktop world I've always been able to ensure that the components will fit before i bought, but I am not sure how to ensure this for laptops.
Can anyone help me with what to check for? Or offer advice on harddrives, be it HDD or SSD.
I would appreciate it very much!
Thanks

It looks like it uses a standard 2.5" SATA drive.
I might suggest the Momentus XT is worth a look. It's a platter drive with a flash drive attached. Once it figures your usage patterns, it offers near SSD performance and you've still got plenty of space left over for everything else. I can tell you when I had my X200 and X200t with SSDs, I disliked having everything on the external. -
Thank you so much for the input! The momentus XT was the first one I came across aswell.
Have a nice day! -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I shy away from platter drives in my notebooks. Mechanical failure of the drive is the most common failure in notebooks, and the fact they are carried around hasten mechanical drives eventual death. I say, unless you a whole ton of music/data, get by with a 80-120 GB SSD or larger, and carry around an external. Works for my Alienware + X220 Tablet.
