Hey everyone i bought the u45jc from xoticpc and received it yesterday and its a really nice computer. Only thing was it was a bit heavier than i expected at 4.62 lbs but its still really nice though its MUCH MUCH lesser weight than my 6.6lbs 15.4 dell laptop.

By the way, what battery mode is the best? I see entertainment and battery saving. However with battery saving, does the taskbar at the bottom always disappear if i choose this? I check the properties in battery savings mode and it seems the configs are something like this, dim the battery after 1 minute and close off the monitor if more than 1 minute of activity. Should you ever change these on battery saving mode or if you change it to higher minutes, then its not longer battery saving mode?

The only thing i do on this laptop is browse, play poker and play music and watch videos. I'm assuming if i watch videos and play music and play poker, leave it on entertainment mode whereas if i'm just browsing, its better to go on battery saving mode? Or just always be on entertainment mode and lower the brightness of the screen?

Also in general, what should the brightness on my screen be when my laptop is on battery or plugged in? Is it a horrible idea to put it to the max? Would having it in the middle be the best?

i am no expert on this but I have no clue why it does that. I never found a wqay to shut that off becuase i find it very annoying. I will say that as far as i could tell the only real differance is that it changes the times things turn off and how bright the screen is. Also in the asus control thing it sets the max cpu power to a lower percentage but i have never seen any differance in performance but than again i am not sure

You can, but those settings hardly make a difference. You can manually adjust the brightness yourself, I don't like it when manufacturer's software or Windows does it. Also mind you Wifi kills battery life, so consider that too when you are unplugged.

Also bluetooth. Bluetooth is very inefficient. It isn't until bluetooth 4.0 comes out that they address power consumtion. My dad used to work for CSR which is a major developer of bluetooth chips and awhile ago he explained to me that bluetooth 4.0 is the next big leap in bluetooth and will offer much better battery life.

EDIT:bluetooth 3.0 is out but is rarely used due to its more expensive.

Well now I believe in Windows 7 it automatically toggles Bluetooth off if it's not in use unless overridden by the user. Supposedly that's a battery saving feature built right into 7.
