Which one of the following processors will give me the same kind of performance?

    Intel(R) Celeron(R) M Processor 420 (1.60 GHz)
    Intel(R) Celeron(R) M Processor 430 (1.73 GHz)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) Solo processor T1350 (1.86 GHz)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2050 (1.60 GHz)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2250 (1.73 GHz)

    Thanks in advance.

It would really depend on the applications and things you'd be using it for
The Celerons really don't come close to the Turion or any of the others
The Core Solo would have slightly less performance, the clock speeds are roughly comparable (eg 2GHz Pentium M or Core Solo = 2GHz Turion)
For multi-threaded applications the Duo processor T2250 (1.73 GHz) would be a lot better than the Turion but slower when only using one core
    Hope this helps

    lotta burning
web sufing (using firefox with 5-15 tabs)
    tons of torrents
    dvd watching
    running itunes

    not a gamer at all

I'm looking to downsize from my 17". Right now I'm trying to decide between a dv2000t and a v3000t. Processor is a hang up. Part of me wants to get the shiny new(er) Core 2 Duo but it seems like overkill for what I do. So right now I figure I can get an equivalent to what I have now and worry about Vista when I buy my next lappy.

If you are buying a new laptop, get something with a dual-core processor. The T2250 is a powerful processor and a good value. Don't buy the Solo and certainly don't get the Celerons. You will be glad you spend the few extra dollars for the dual-core when you find yourself running a multithreaded program or if you do heavy multitasking.

Are you against looking at another Turion? Newegg has an Acer with a dual core Turion (TL-50) right now for $750. Most of the reviews claim to have good battery life; just need to add some extra RAM, repartition the HD, and load XP Pro to get rid of the dumb ass partitions which will speed things up greatly. Here's a link if you feel like taking a look at it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115254 This is actually the laptop I'm considering getting myself as well.
