I have purchased a laptop a while back and am afraid the graphics card has eaten itself; therefore before sending it back, I wish to erase the hard drive. All I can think of is taking the hard drive out (assuming this will not affect warranty??) and buying an enclosure, or somehow working those erasing disk tools without a screen (without prompts etc.)

    Any clues anyone?

I have the same issue - want to sell my broken laptop for parts, but the 'broken' part is the video card/mobo and so I can't get a display up. I poked around, and the only thing I could find was to pull the hdd and make it into an external drive (there were directions on how to do so on the site, I thought...)

I couldn't find any other way - sorry, wish I had better news. Maybe someone else here knows of something I missed...

It won't break the warranty. Unless they have stickers that get removed with you take out the HDD, then they won't be able to tell. I returned my laptop after screwing around with the insides a lot more then removing the disk.

You can go ahead with your HDD removal attempt if there are no serials that will be scraped off during the process.. Good luck with availing for your warranty.

I did the same thing when I bricked my last one. Pulled it and formatted through my desktop, Toshiba never said anything to me.
