I replaced a Toshiba-IBM branded hard drive with an Hitachi drive and used Acronis True Image to 'clone' the data from the Source to the Destination (old to new). I've done this a bunch of times on many systems.

The drive has all of the data and it boots, but I receive an annoying message and error code (2010) while booting indicating that the hard drive may not be compatible with this device. (I guess that it does not have the IBM Firmware on it). After the message, it boots into XP and everything's fine.

Any way to get rid of this message? I went to the IBM-Lenovo site and there are no FW upgrades.

    Thanks

    Brad

You might want to check out the Thinkpad forums. I believe this issue has been discussed there many a time. The people on that website are extremely helpful and informative and should be able to give you some good insight.
