Wintec FileMate 3FMS4E128JM-R Solid State Drive - Newegg.com
If one was to run one of these as an OS drive.... i can't even word my question, what about TRIM and garbage collection? how does that work over Express Card 34? OR is there an Sata controller packed inside too? All i'm certain of is depending on the BIOS the internal HDD might need a bootloader to point to the express card 34 SSD.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't expresscard basically a pci-e interface in another format? In that case, with the latest RST drivers, TRIM should work IIRC. I'm not sure you could boot from it though.

you might not be able to boot form it directly, in which case you owuld need a competent boot loader on the internal drive that cane see the SSD and point to it. Grub should work so should PLOP. Now if it wasn't so damned expensive.
However I'm wondering if those write speeds are any better than an HDD, though i suppose it would offload some of the work from the internal HDD and latency would lower.
