I have a Asus W90...it has a Realtek ALC888 codec...sounds nice huh? It isnt...the headphone (overall audio output) has more "background" noise than ANY onboard audio Ive EVER used...its complete horrid!!!
Anyways, is there a way I can use my X-Fi Platinum on my laptop? Thinking Express Card or USB to PCI adapater...would like to use the X-Fi not just for my headphones but also for the 7.1 outputs for my speakers.
If someone knows of something PLEASE fill me in, thanks!
And remember... I NEED PCI NOT PCI-Express!

This is probably possible, but unlikely to be worth the money, hassle, and mess. You can buy a usb or PC/Express Card sound card for way less than this setup.
You could do the DIY VIDOCK with the HWTools Express card to PCIe kit then get a PCI to PCIe adapter. All of this would cost more than your sound card is worth.
This looks like a PCI to PCIe 1x convertor. The description is a little bit confusing though.
