What is the Express card slot that I have on my notebook? I noticed some websites says you can add a video card but is that true? If so does that mean I can upgrade my current IGP to a better GPU?

Read the DIY ViDock thread if you want to utilize a desktop GPU on your laptop.

Well it looks like you will have to connect a monitor to the video card and it won't make it so you can use your notebook screen as your monitor.

But what is the express card really made for? I don't think alot of people will use it for upgrading a video card right?

Tons of things. Solid state storage, TV tuners, USB 3.0, memory card reader, SATA ports, and the list goes on...

In other words, it's your notebook's multi-function port!

It allows you to spec. and configure your notebook with any connection/upgrade you see fit. That is, provided it's compatible of course. :)
