Hi,
has anybody ever seen such an adapter? I've been searching for one but couldn't find it.
There are plenty of laptops out there with unused ExpressCard slots that don't have an mSATA port. If connected via PCI-e ExpressCard would provide a nice Interface for mSATA SSDs and physically an mSATA module would even fit into a 34mm ExpressCard housing.

why not straight expresscard SSD ?

Because I already have an mSATA SSD which soon will be unused. I also already have a slow ExpressCard SDD and I don't want to spend the money to buy yet another one.
The only question is if I'll buy a desktop PCIE-mSATA adapter and put it in my new PC or if I can get an ExpressCard adapter to put it into my subnotebook. -
Is that ExpressCard to mSATA adapter even exist? I was looking for something like this, the goal is to speep up the loading time of programs and task a little bit for the old (2008 laptop), I know the best is to put in a 2.5" SSD to replace the 500G spinning HDD but in this case: HDD, optical drive, ram and cpu is "fixed" (so let's don't touch them, please don't ask lol) - so a 64G mSATA SSD as a cache or even 250 mSATA SSD to put some programs here to run would be nice.
p/s: read review for ExpressCard SSD around, they're all like old (from 2010-2011), slow and way too expensive. -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
AFAIK you can't* boot from ExpressCard SSD, thus you won't be able to boot from other expresscard devices.
* - AFAIK this can be done only with some hardcore Windows mod i.e. pushing required drivers to load before other stuff. -
Or grub loader or something. The main disadvantage is that they are rather expensive and slow, but you already know that.

Even the ExpressCard 54 is not long/wide enough to accommodate mSATA drive, let alone the accompanying SATA->PCIe circuit. Who knows though, good luck finding one.
Starlight5 and longbodie like this.
