Hi all...on my desktop I have had an ext 500gb my book hd for quite some time that is hooked to my desktop and I have yet to find a fix as others have had the same issue. It seems like when booting it stalls for about a minute like maybe trying to boot from the ext instead of the internal HDD...I don't have it set in the bios to boot from anything but the internal and peeps have tried all sorts of things to no avail....any ideas would make my day...cheers!

Some BIOS configuration UIs allow you to choose or remove what devices your computer boot from. Have you tried adjusting your BIOS settings?

Yes, but still no luck. I have been on the WD forums and it is an issue that I think is still ongoing. I may just have to put up with it. I thought Vista SP1 might do the trick ..but no...

Unless you can set which devices the BIOS can boot from, it will probably search all devices for boot media regardless of whether it detects the first one on the list.
Ext Hd = Slow boot
