I wasn't sure whether to put this in the gaming section or the hardware section.

Anyhow, I have an external hard drive 80GB that I can finally use, and was wondering if I can store my game files on it and still play them alright. Like the Windows Live games I don't think require you to have the disk to play them, so I thought that would work well. I only have a 64GB SSD, so I can't really store a 12GB game like Crysis on there.

You can play games off of them. It is gonna be a bit slower though. But the answer is yes.

That's what I was afraid of. Shouldn't the loading only be slower though? Because once its loads an area it's really only running off RAM/GPU or whatnot. Correct?

Best way to see the performance drop is to try it for yourself.

This is why I always advise people to get the largest harddrive they can afford.

They'll run... but yeah loading and such will be infuriatingly slow. I played HL2: Episode One off an external on my old laptop and that was somewhat miserable.
