    Hello All!

So I just purchased a 100GB 7K100 for my Dell D610 and I placed by old 40GB Toshiba in an external HD enclosure. The HD plugs into two USB ports and starts up and everything. It is also recognized by Win XP pro. I can not get it to map to My Computer though to access it. Basically, when I go into the device properties and try to populate the volume, it says the type is unknown and its status is unreadable. Maybe it has to do with the jumper settings (I am no expert here lol). Any ideas as I still have some information on this drive I would like to access. Thanks for your help!

    Cheers,

    Josh

Hahahha... well I fixed my own problem. My hard drive was password protected from being installed in my Dell. It wouldn't allow me to access the drive. When i removed the protection (by putting it back into my machine and accessing the BIOS), then reinstalled it in the enclosure, it worked like a charm. I thought I'd post this so other people can learn from my two hours of fun hehehe.

Cheers and Happy New Year All!
