Hey all, I was looking for an external drive for my laptop to run games like Bf2, TDU, and whatever else comes out. I was looking into Raptor drives, and thinking of just buying the 150 gb raptor drive from Newegg with the esata adapter. If you have any good ideas for me, please post them, and I would like to keep the price low, as I am limited on money.

Well that is a good idea, but it may be expensive to do so. a raptor drive will run you like $200 + for the 146gb or the 300gb velociraptor.
I think you are much better off getting a faster hard drive for inside of your laptop, as that will speed up the performance of all of your tasks.

What hard drive do you have in your laptop. (If you don't know, run a hdtune benchmark, and tell us the model number of your drive - it is listed in the top left of the benchmark, in a pull down menu)

I would recommend getting a 200gb 7200rpm drive or a fast 320gb 7200rpm drive as those will run extremely fast and result in faster load times in games and such.

You likely have the 200GB Hitatchi in your G1S like mine did. I just replaced mine last night with the WD Black Scorpio (320GB @ 7200rpm) because it was too small for all my games. I was having to copy gam directories over to an external and then deleting them from my notebook to install other games, then delete that game and transfer the other one back. I went from 111GB on the OS partition on the 200gb drive to 230 on the WD, plenty for my games.
When I installed the Vista recovery DVD, I made sure to install it to ONE partition so that I could shrink it to create the Data partition to the size I wanted (70GB for me). You may want to keep that in mind of you do that.

The Scorpio cost me $179 at newegg but I think it was worth it. I bought a Vantec eSATA/USB enclosure ($30) for my old 200gig drive for copying file over just in case I forgot any when I was doing my backups. It works pretty well and is portable.

edit: I see you have the G1S- A1, not the B1 like mine. I think your HD is smaller then. Regardless, an upgraded drive is worth it for gaming IMHO.
