I tried to Google it but there is no SOLID info on them.
Would be nice to have one that I could attach to usb and that is as powerfull as the high end gamming card.
Or maybe companies see this as bad business to do so.
Anybody info on this?![]()

Thats actually a great idea. If you had an external video card you could get a really high end card attached to usb. Heat wouldnt be an issue because its outside the notebook.
I think this could become a reality in a few years. -
There is no such thing at the moment... but it is coming soon, and will be able to use high-end PCI-E cards. You will need an express card slot in your notebook. The ASUS XG station, expected late Q1/ Q2 this year:

its been debuted at CES 2007 already.

Thanks for the links ..... That Asus XG is huge & looks like it doesn't do as good as a internal one yet. But it's a start. And it looks pretty too.

The question about external video cards shows up every 5-6 months, I guess. Each time, I think, we are getting closer to the answer "here it is"
.

I just want a cheap usb external video card, we have about 5-6 sony laptops with dead video card!! We don't even need excellence performance on them.
It's a pity that Sony laptop fails completely when their GPU fails. Unlike some desktop bios still runs without GPU. -
