I have a 120gb 7,200 rpm IDE HD in an external USB enclosure.

Whenever I try to open it from Windows, I cannot see any of my files. Windows asks me to format, but when I try, it gives me a Cannot Access Error.

But when I boot from a Ubuntu Live CD, it can see it just fine, along with all the data inside.

Any suggestions on how to get this working again for Windows?

What file system is being used? Is it a format which Windows doesn't support by default, but Linux does support?

It's NTFS, so I cannot edit files with Ubuntu.

I suspect the MTF is corrupted.
