Hello guys. I just bought a Thermaltake HD docker, a great piece of hardware that allows you to swap hard drives without having to put them inside an enclosure, essentially a docking bay.

Well, I finally got to use my 500GB hard drive for the first time in a long time. I was having some issues with crappy enclosures before, but this one is recognized. Problem is, when I plug it in, my computer starts to slow down, and it takes a long time to navigate the hard drive, even when it comes to recognizing it for the first time. Even loading video or pictures, it takes forever. I fear there are errors in the sectors of the drive, but Windows is being an idiot and taking its sweet time doing anything (another reason why I'm going Mac soon).

Well, anyway, is there software I can get that can take care of this problem for me, cleaning up any errors or bad sectors with the drive, instead of relying on the default Windows program? I want to have access to the hard drive and move files before formatting it to clean it of all issues. Thanks!

Your External case came with a Y- USB cable. Try to plug the Two USB at the same time. Maybe it is lack of power.. My coolermaster XCraft 2.5 case works very well with a Scorpio 500GB.

Nah, it is a USB and eSata. I think my XPS has an eSata slot, but I'm holding off using it too much since I am selling it. I think the problem might really lie with the hard drive, since I hooked up my other 160GB hard drive and it instantly popped up.

Then again, this is a 500GB hard drive, and it may need to recognize all the files, but I don't really think that's the case. Thanks for the point, though. I may try switching things around a bit.
