I recently bought a 160GB external hard drive bu Western Digital, however for some reason my computer, a Dell Latitude D600 with Windows XP is not recognizing it. The isn't a problem with the USB or HDD because I have tried it with a different computer with no difficulty. My computer takes no action when it is plugged in, via USB port.

    Please Help!

    Thanks so much

XP SP2? I think SP1 doesn't not auto detect removable mass storage so you may have to download a driver for that. I dont use XP anymore so over time I am forgetting the small details about it.
