I am not sure if this is the right section to put this question in, but anyways...

I have an WD external HDD 250GB, that I have hooked up to my wireless router. I am able to see the files in the HDD with no problem. I can read and write on the Drive with no problem. But when i put my internal hard drive 350gb into an external exclosure so I can hook up to the wireless router but I am not able to write on it. I am able to read and take the file out and save on my computer though. If it means anything, the HDD is in NTSF format and when I read the FAQ for my router, it says it needs a FAT32 format for it to work properly. But the drive does not allow for FAT32 format. So what kind of format is my WD drive for it to work but not my internal converted into an external.

get yourself a nas box of some sort for the internal, or build one from an old pc.

NAS boxes are very expensive. A good NAS box with gigabit connection speed will cost your £200+. Then again, in my opinion, it is a worthwhile investment. In case you're wondering, buying a cheap NAS box will mean slow access speeds, so it's not worth it. You could also just buy a Network HD enclosure, which will be cheaper, but will still set you back by about £100 for a decent one.

The most cost effective way for you to get your external HD working with your router is to format it to FAT32. Just backup your data somewhere and then connect your HD to a PC and right click>properties>format and choose FAT32 form the drop down list.
