I'm trying to decide on a portable HDD, but am having difficulty, tight now I have it narrowed down to the Iomega ego Ruby and the acomdata Executive. I'd like to know peoples opinions. I don't want to get a enclosure+HDD myself, I just want a nice reliable storage device,

I wouldnt go for either that you picked, for a good reason.

When you buy an external harddrive, the drive comes with only a 1 year warranty.
If you buy the harddrive separately you can make use of the 3 or 5 year warranty the drive comes with. Plus its also cheaper to buy a harddrive and enclosure separately, so you can pick exactly what you want.
I would personally go for a Hitachi drive for the enclosure, like a 5K320 and a decent enclosure.
