hi, i have three Seagate Storage External harddrive, one of them has this high pitch whining noise, this is not present on the other two harddrive that i've bought.

is this indicate a defect? should i ask for replacement?

    thanks

It could be a problem. As a safetly, measure back up the data on the drive, as you never know what might happen to it. If the drives are old, then there is a higher risk of them becoming faulty, so if you are under warranty, I would advise to go doen that route.

thanks for the reply zero :) the hard drive is new. i bought em at the and of last year, i just began using it right now, and when i first started it there is this odd one out that has this annoying whine (it is twice as loud as the other drive) though i said loud; it is not really loud as the drive is whisper quiet.

oh, as a precaution i've backed up the file on another harddrive.
