    Hey guys,

So I'm in the market for an external hard drive since I just got my new laptop.

Now my question is this, am I being too paranoid thinking I should get a Dual-Bay External with RAID for all my *stuff* (music, movies, documents, etc etc)?

Or should I just get a plain old external enclosure and slap in a big hard drive?

    Thanks

    Wes

    Paranoid? Nah.

But it is much easier and simpler to just use an external storage for personal data.

    cheers ...

I'm sure you are referring to those RAID mirroring mode right? If you have the budget for these kinds of external hard drive, then go for it. I know I've once lost many precious family photos stored in external hard drive after more than 1 year of usage. I wished that I had run the drive on RAID 1 mode, instead of RAID 0. :(
