I have a Western digital Passport 250gb that I just formatted to NTFS (took 4 hours...)

I'm trying to move a 24gb file but it always stops once 3.2gb has been copied into my external HDD, what is wrong with this?

What type of file is it anyway?

I had a WD MyBook 500gb that used to crash when transferring large files and made the whole system crash.

Can you copy the 24GB file on the C drive (make a duplicate)? maybe a redundacy error.
