I have a sager 2090 and I'm looking for a solution to my limited space.
I have a lot of large file movies and stuff. Is there a 250-500 gb ex. HDD solution that can handle these large files? Also, what type of data transfer should I look for. Lastly, is it better to get an internal drive and make a special case for it?

Unless your machine has external SATA, your choices are USB and Firewire. Firewire will generally give higher performance but it is also usually more expensive than a USB device. You can find complete drive+enclosure systems like the Western Digital MyBooks or you can buy an enclosure separately and install whatever drive you like into it (not from WD, but almost all computer stores have them).

Every external harddrive can handle large files

i have #5 (the maxtor SSii)
but any NAS should work by connecting directly to the RJ45 network plug on the laptop
and then you have 100mbs transfer... SOME EVEN SUPPORT 1gigbit transfers... that should blow the lid off the USB

Excuse my ignorance... but is a Sager 2090 a desktop or a laptop?
An external drive with USB 2.0 and eSATA would be the best option for sure, but if it's a laptop, the only way you'll be able to use eSATA, is via an eSATA 'Pygmy' (PCMCIA) card or ExpressCard.
If it's a desktop - and has an eSATA connection, you're laughing.
If it just has standard SATA connections... connect the drive via an eSATA - SATA cable
Either way... an eSATA investment is very worthwhile.
The difference in speed compared to USB 2.0 is (/can be) phenomenal
