External TV tuners that support hi-def component in and/or VGA/DVI in?

I'm going to college in the fall and the dorm rooms aren't wired for cable or anything, so I'm not gonna bring my TV...however, let's say I buy an Xbox 360 or something, it'd be nice to be able to plug it into my laptop, especially since I intend to get one with a 17" widescreen display.

Also, it'd be nice if the TV tuner supported audio too, but between the probability of having an audio-in on my laptop and having a headphone amp I can use to run the sound directly from the console to the amp to the headphones, it's hardly a must.

Are there any TV tuners that provide what I'm looking for?

OR, are there any laptops comparable to the Sager 5760 or the Dell M1710 that have video in other than S-Video? Those are the two laptops that are presently highest on my list.

There are currently no external TV tuners which have HD input due to lack of buswidth. Future Expresscard TV tuners will have HD support, but those don't exist yet as Expresscard is a new piece of technology.
What exactly do you mean by audio support? Every TV tuner has audio input jacks where you stick in the audio cable of your console.
I haven't seen any laptops that have anything better than S-Video in, probably because there are no mobile graphics cards that support anything better than that.

But is it even worth it to get a tuner that supports component if it's only gonna let me run 480i?

And I take it that since you didn't mention any, no such thing as a VGA->USB bridge exists for say, plugging in an Xbox 360 to my laptop monitor using the 360's VGA cable?

hooking any gaming console will be a disaster. it has been tried many times and has fail almost every time. the reason is because the signal can not be sent quick enough from the controler to the image on the screen. so there is really bad lag. imagine playing bf2 at like 4-5 fps

So if I want to game in my room, my only choice is to buy a stand-alone monitor of whatever size will fit in my dorm? :(

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Waiting for Expresscard TV tuners is probably your best chance.

Please don't talk about stuff you don't know. It's only the consoles which run in HD that are currently not possible, I personally run a PS2 on my laptop (might run the Nintendo Wii on it as well in a few months) and it works fine.

If you are really so desperate to play games in High Definition, you will have to purchase a High Definition compatible television to enjoy the full scale of it. Playing HD on a 17 inch monitor isn't that rewarding as the screen isn't exactly big enough to show the full glory of High Definition.

I use the Pinnacle PCTV USB2.0 50e. There is a newer one - the 100e - but the differences isn't really worth it if all you're going to do is play your PS2.
I have heard that cardbus TV tuners are very good at gaming, although I have never tried one myself.
