I just purchsed a Sager NP 8660. It will be replacing an old desktop that I built myself. The 8660 has an eSATA port and I was wondering about connecting the two

    1) Do external chassis come with power supplies or would the raptor suck all my laptop's power?

    2) Would the performance of the raptor be as good through the eSATA port as it is in my desktop?

    3) How much would this cost?

    1. Yes, external enclosures are available with power supplies, and support for power through USB. (Better to go for external power supply, but it will deprive you of mobility)

    2. Should be. I believe the eSATA port will provide SATA-300 throughputs, but it doesn't affect the overall performance much.

    3. Around $50 or less.
