I have an external hd that I have my mp3's on and it is next to my 400w rms sub and would like to know if it can skip like a cd player can. I have never heard of it before but it seem like if I play music loud enough, it seems to skip once in a while.

If there is enough vibration from the sub, you can cause the drive to "skip", i'm sure. Not good for the drive to be subjected to this while powered on/working, you should relocate the drive to somewhere sturdy.

That is the firsrt time I heard that a hd can skip. It is not that close either. I thought a hd could take a impact of a few g's and nothing would happen to it. I guess that means when it is not working.

You could easily damage the HD if its kept in a constant vibrating state..

I suggest placing it else where
