Hi guys, have had my Satellite P100 (Nvidia Geforce 7600 Go card) for about 7 months now, however I've recently got a nice external monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 226BW) and hooked it up to the machine via DVI.

I'm running Win XP MCE, and everything works fine except the power saving mode - the machine will go into screen saver when inactive, but for some reason the monitor won't enter standby mode after that (as set per the power saving settings). It's not a huge issue (can just turn it off manually) but it would be nice if I could get it to work as it would be slightly more convenient.

Has anyone experienced something similar before when connecting an external monitor via DVI to your laptop? Any tips on how to get the external monitor to go into suspend mode properly after a period of inactivity would be greatly appreciated. (Btw, the built-in monitor suspends properly after a period of inactivity.)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey there,

I have the Samsung 206BW(on DVI) and when the laptop goings into standby it takes a few minutes for the monitor to go into standy. I havent timed it, but if you want me to check anything let me know?

thanks for the offer dude, thing is, i've set the screen saver to 5 mins and the monitor standby timing to 10, and though it goes into screen saver on the dot at 5 mins, 20 mins later the monitor is still stuck in screen saver mode and did not go into standby.. weird eh?

Update: just tried hooking up via d-sub- the standby for that worked great! weird...
