I decided to upgrade my CPU from a C2D T5750 to a T9300. Applied AS5 and screwed everything back in. I booted up the computer, and it ran fine for like 20 minutes, during which time the most intense thing I did was run the Windows Experience Index. Anyway, I was chatting on Windows Live Messenger, when all of a sudden everything froze.

After waiting a couple minutes, I powered down and tried to power back up, but the computer doesn't even make it to the BIOS screen. I have a Dell Studio 1535.

I should note that the T9300 had some slightly bent pins, so I had to straighten them out beforehand.

HWMonitor was reading ~18oC, which was wrong. RMClock had 37-39oC.

Check if you broke one pin while upgrading.

Where did you get it? Is it the bulk version or is it boxed processor?

The pins are intact as far as I can tell - I can post a photo if it helps you guys help me, haha. I got it off eBay, and the exact model is the T9300 SLAQG processor.

BTW, I can confirm that it is the T9300 that's dead. Reinstalling the T5750 fixes all problems.

So I guess there is nothing I can do to revive the T9300? Sigh...fml.

Heh just be glad thats all it was, when i saw this thread this morning I was thinking it was the cpu and hopefully that was all it was. Youd be really saying fml if the cpu took the board with it.

shouldn't have installed it w/ the bent pin in the beginning. I would still try to ask for a refund.

Get an exchange from the seller. That processor should definitely be compatible, and the pins should definitely not be bent.
