i tried using MemTest to drop some of the numbers for my ram and managed to get a good little boost using sisoftware to benchmark the memory. but then it reached a point where it crashed so i knocked it back a couple of numbers and thought that would be that job done. but then after 30 seconds or so it crashed. i restarted and raised the numbers back a couple, still crashing. its at the point where even a drop of 1 in anything will cause a crash....... any help please¿?

its Kingston HyperX 4gb 667, on vista 32

Maybe you should just OC the FSB?

i've tried that, but i have used every supported PLL in overclocking software and have had no results.... and i can't find a PLL number for extensa 5620G anywhere on the internet

From your Device ID register (byte 8) I can see that your PLL is not an ICS chip. Also it looks like you have TME mode enabled (no overclocking without a pin mod).

So you have to take your notebook apart, find the PLL, find the datasheet for the PLL and then I might be able to help you overclock:

or, maybe, your ram can't handle the modified settings and you toasted something. There is a *reason* why some ram is faster than others.

Kingston HyperX is already low-latency memory. Odds are you won't be able to get it significantly lower than stock timings, if at all. I used to have the 667MHz HyperX, and timings were 4-4-4-12. Default for 667MHz is 5-5-5-15.

ye i bought it cos its already lower than normal, but you would have thought with what standard RAM can be pushed to this would be better. na nothings toasted its all working fine on normal. still benchmarks same as before standard so, i'll just have to leave it. never minds :D
