lately when disconnecting the ac power from my laptop to switch it to battery, the screen, depending on what mood it's in, goes black, not completly black as in no power but black as in there is some sort of backlight still on but no picture whatsoever.
when it wants to behave, I can disconnect without any trouble, but when it doesn't want to behave I have no alternative but to hold the power button till it shuts down and then press it again to restart.

it this a normal result of wear and tear or something more serious?

see sig if you need model and specs of laptop

    Thanks

    Phillip

this isnt wear and tear, thats likely a fault, either a wire thats loose or a malfunction on the motherboard of LCD. wear and tear would be the battery not holding charge as much or the print on the keys wearing out. this is a laptop that is not operating to acceptable levels.

ps why do u have my car in ur sig :p

I know most laptop screens do flicker/dim when you remove the AC adapter.

    Or it could be PowerPlay.

    Check your settings.

Did you tell NHC to underclock your GPU when on battery? It might be set too low.
