    Fan is LOUD!

    is just happened yesterday. the fan is extremely loud now. I can hear it spin. it never use to be like this. what should i do? i have a compaq presario v2000z.

    How old is your notebook? Have you cleaned out the fan at all since you got it?

    The cooling guide gives some instruction on cleaning the fan.

    In the meantime, can you describe the noise? Extremely loud doesn't tell us much.

    I'd definitly check to see if anything has built up around the fan. I'll second the use of the cooling guide. It's helped me in the past.

    i havent cleaned the fan since, ill try the guide. thx. oh and the noise is like a loud grinding sound. loud and fast. iono how to describe it.

    If it sounds like its grinding them there is a very good chance that there is something stuck in the fan. It could be dust buildup or even a bit of debree. Can you physically look at the fan to check for foreign objects?
