Hey all, I'm finally finally finally done researching and I'm ordering TONIGHT!!! I cannot wait any longer and have decided to purchase the Sony FZ140E from Circuit City due to time restraints, not budgetary reasons. The specs listed on the site are....
T7100 processor, 2GB RAM, 200GB 4200RPM hard drive, Dual layer DVD burner, 15.4'' 1280x800 screen, integrated graphics X3100, 802.11 a/b/g/n....
First question.....Am I going to be bogged down by the T7100 if I'm performing activities like Photoshop, or video editing. I don't know what other CPU intensive tasks I'd perform but I'd like to have that option.
Second....Is the 4200 RPM hard drive really slow transferring data?? I'm going to be moving things between my external hard drive a lot. How big of a problem will this be?
Third.....Isn't 1280x800 a little low for a 15.4'' screen? I'm planning on buying a 22'' external monitor with 1680x1080 because the FZ has an HDMI port so will the monitor run at that native resolution or will it be downscaled to WXGA?? I don't plan on running dual monitor setup, the bigger monitor will be for watching movies.
Thanks so much for all the help you guys have given me these last two months!

If anything the HD may slow down a few things in PS or Video Editing, though the 7100 is a pretty low end processor.
The 4200rpm won't be slow in transferring data, since the bottleneck will be the USB port that I am assuming you have instead of eSATA or Firewire.
And yes, WXGA on a 15" is pretty pathetic. But you can get WSXGA+ on an external monitor just fine. -
Will getting the T7100 be too slow that I won't want to do photoshop or video editing then?
I plan on getting a Firewire enclosure but right now I only have USB. As long as it doesn't cripple performance, I will be fine. It's good to know that I can still get WSXGA on an external.
Also, will the integrated graphics give me any trouble running Aero or watching HD movies? -

The CPU will be fine for photoshop and video editing, the only thing is the HDD which is a little slow.
The integrated graphics are just fine for what you want to do. -
The T7100 shouldn't be that slow
GMA x3100 should be fine. -
Thanks a lot guys!!! I just placed my order! I can't begin to say how much this forum has meant to me because it has been my #1 source of computer knowledge since I joined......Keep up the great work!
Final questions, need help!
