I'm looking to buy a new notebook, and I've noticed many come with fingerprint security scanners as a standard feature. I'm generally against paranoid levels of security and any hardware requiring extra stuff running on my PC, so this feature doesn't thrill me, but it's something I could tolerate if I got a good deal otherwise on the unit.

Anyway, my question: I cut my finger pretty badly trying to peel some fruit the other day, and it got me thinking, would this mess up my attempts to validate my fingerprint and turn on a notebook with this feature?

on the fingerprint reader software i have at least, you can register up to 10 fingers.

so basically every single finger on both hands. injuring one finger wont keep you from logging on.

What happens when you break your arm and it's in a cast?

use your nose to type tha password in :D

or your other hand, and if you broke both, get someone else to type your password in, and if its worse than that, you probably won't be in any condition to use your laptop anyway :D

Well, see, that's where you're wrong. The first thing on my mind after a car accident that turns me into a paraplegic is: "oh noes, I can't log into my laptop!!!"

Thanks for the info. Anyway, does it validate at the BIOS level, or does it load with Windows? Or something else?
